Notonthehighstreet.com is an online marketplace, selling beautiful items from over 5000 creative small businesses, referred to as “Partners”. The company — founded in 2006 by Holly Tucker and Sophie Cornish — aims to help people find unique gift ideas and personalised gifts, as well as provide inspiration on everything from home decorations to fashion and jewellery.
I have always been a big NOTHS fan and customer- regularly searching for unique gifts for my sisters and friends, much to their delight! So it is really very exciting to be able to say that Penelope Hope is now a NOTHS Partner. We will regularly be updating our products and collections both on our online store here and on NOTHS.
How we got selected to be a Partner
Back in July, NOTHS held an open event at their Head Office in Richmond called ‘Pitch Up” where they invited creative businesses to come and pitch their work/ products to members of the team and to receive instance feedback and either a Yes or a No to becoming a new Partner.
So I booked a flight to London, packed a large suitcase full of cushions and lampshades (it did look like I was moving to the other side of the world!) and headed to the Notonthehighstreet.com Head Office. It couldn’t have been better timing as my sister who lives in London had only just had a baby and so I was able to go and meet baby Max for the first time and enjoy a nice lunch with my fab sister and her gorgeous new baby! It was a good way to steady my nerves before heading to the Pitch Up.
I met with two lovely, friendly members of the NOTHS team who were interested in hearing all about my business and how the products are designed and made. They were particularly enamoured with the Oresome Collection Metallic Lampshades and felt these would work wonderfully well on the site and would appeal to the Notonthehighstreet.com customer.
They also gave me some great feedback and an insight into what other products I could expand into that would do well on the site. Before I knew it, they handed me a card….
It was a yes! High fives all round!! I was over the moon. Having been such a fan of NOTHS for so long and knowing what a great opportunity it is for the business I left there with a big grin on my face, a spring in step and still a massive suitcase to lug back to Guernsey!
